* Many of our customers, before they embark on an Argentina dove hunting trip; ask us some detailed questions about the culture and social makeup of Argentina. These are good questions, so we have chosen to include some information here. Note: these facts also apply to those booking Uruguay Duck hunting, Argentina duck hunting, and duck hunting in Uruguay.

Argentina Facts:

Argentina is the 2nd largest country in South America, and it is made up of twenty-three provinces which all offer some kind of hunting and/or fishing. Many of our clients who go duck hunting in Uruguay do not know that Uruguay was once a province of Argentina—which would have made it number “24”.
Of all of the provinces, Cordoba is the most popular for Argentina dove hunting, and probably more people choose the province of Santa Fe for Argentina duck hunting.

The expanse of Argentina stretches form the Andes Mts. To the Atlantic Ocean, and shares a border with Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Bolivia and Paraguay are also known to have excellent wingshooting, however due to several factors, these countries have never risen to the top of the market like Argentina and Uruguay have.

In a long disputed battle with Chile and the United Kingdom, Argentina has laid claim to the Falkland Islands, and parts of Antarctica. Although the Chileans have never overtly challenged Argentina’s claims to Antarctica, the Brits fought a fierce war with the Argentines in the early 1980’s that resulted in the decimation of the Argentine Navy, and their eventual surrender. The British now occupy the Falklands, and a division of Marines and a squadron of British Tornado fighters are guarding the territory.

Argentina: We Speak Spanish – Not Portuguese

Argentina is the biggest country in the world that calls Spanish their national language. Many of our guests ask if they should brush up on their Spanish before booking an Argentina dove hunting trip, so that they may communicate more effectively with the locals. It is our opinion that it is always a good idea to learn a new language if one has the time and motivation, however, everyone that you will encounter while hunting in Argentina, or duck hunting in Uruguay, will speak at least some English.

Argentina is a second-world country that has a solid middle class, and a large population of educated people. Unlike Mexico, and many other parts of Latin America, Argentina is not gripped by extreme poverty. Because of this, Argentina is much safer than most South American countries—something that has been a big player in influencing clients to book Argentina duck hunting trips, and dove hunts in Cordoba.

Buenos Aires: The Paris Of South America

One should definitely think twice about booking an Argentina dove hunting trip, or a Uruguay duck hunting trip, and not visiting Buenos Aires on the front or back end of the trip. Buenos Aires is a wonderful city that is steeped in rich tradition and amazing architecture. Everything about Buenos Aires (which many say was built by homesick Europeans) exudes luxury and refinement, and the restaurants, hotels, and public areas are all beautiful.

There is clearly an influence of Italian flare to this otherwise Spanish-looking city, and that is due to the fact that almost half of the immigrants come from Italy. Half of the last names in Buenos Aires are Italian, and the locals speak with a distinct accent and use a dialect called “lunfardo” which comes from the Italian language.

We Will Handle Your Travel Arrangements!

Los Gauchos has agreements with several four and five star hotels in this amazing city, and again, we encourage all of our Argentina duck hunting clients to book a night or two here to enjoy the sights, and dine in the amazing steakhouses that have made this country so famous for their beef. Are you going duck hunting in Uruguay? No problem. It is a short flight or ferry ride over to Uruguay, and you can easily incorporate a night in Buenos Aires into your itinerary before or after the trip—simply let us know in advance and we will assist you in planning and organizing the type of activities that you desire.

The Tango is a famous dance that originated in the La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and anyone who is in country for an Argentina dove hunting trip would be remiss no to take a tour of the neighborhood—just don’t go there at night! During the day, La Boca is safe and has many police officers on the streets, but at night, it is less secure. If you have any questions about safety and/or security, simply contact Los Gauchos and we will provide you with detailed instructions and advice that will help keep you safe (although there is always a risk in any big city in the world, so never let your guard down, or assume anything).

Would you like to add some amazing duck hunting to your Cordoba dove hunt? If so, you should consider some of our incredible Uruguay duck hunting. It is fast, furious decoying action that runs from May until August—don’t miss it. Duck hunting in Uruguay—see it live and in color on the video below:
